Town of Doncaster
Doncaster is most famous for being a historic market town with a rich horse racing and railway background. It was founded by the Romans and they used the town to their advantage so they had a strategic position on the River Don. Transport and connectivity would play a role in why the Romans loved the area so much. Doncaster is at the very heart of its area and consists of plenty of green open space, nature reserves and an amazing variety of people. Doncaster has many small villages within it such as Conisbrough and Tickhill both which have Norman castles.
The Lakeside which is home to the Dome the UK’s top sport indoor centre with Lagoons,7 pool water world an ice rink and indoor climbing materials. The Keepmoat stadium which is home to Doncaster Rovers football club is located around the same area and in with this area there is a multi screen cinema complex and the Doncaster Bowl. The area is very friendly for children and makes it a popular visitor destination. The museums are also very popular with the Yorkshire light Infantry which is housed in the same building.
