Christ Church College is Oxford's largest college, re-founded by Henry VIII in 1546 and is the only college in the world with a cathedral within its walls. It's Great Hall was used for Hogwarts dinning hall, where the medieval hall and its marvellous walls come to life in the films. This dining hall is still used for meals by students at this famous University College
The stairs at Christ Church College were used as Hogwarts staircase for the scenes where Professor McGonagall greets the first year students upon their arrival in the 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone'.
Duke Humfrey's Library was used as Hogwarts Library and has more than 80 miles of bookshelves, making it one of the most complete libraries in the world. Lots of old volumes give an ideal gothic/Potteresque feel. Unfortunately this area of the college can only been seen as part of a guided tour.
The Divinity School was used as Hogwarts hospital in 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone'.
The historic Bodleian library is the main research library of Oxford University and provided the scenes for Hogwart's infirmary and Ron's dancing lesson with Professor McGonagall. Make sure you look at the ceiling it features images of beasts and biblical scenes, and has been described by experts as a "masterpiece of English Gothic architecture".
After visiting Oxford venues where the Harry Potter scenes were filmed, you could go for a drink or meal in one of Oxfords bars or restaurants. During your home journey, you watch yet another favourite Harry Potter films, or you could listen to your favourite music whilst enjoying a glass of complementary Champagne.
Make your Harry Potter day a memorable one by hiring a limo to add extra magic to your special day. We think you and your guests will enjoy the limo ride as much as exploring the sights of the film scenes. Just don't forget to pack your hats, cloaks and wands!
